I'm not familiar with the link you are referring to as we do not directly link with commercial Websites. I'm assuming you saw a Google advertisement; we don't control the ads Google generates but we can filter objectionable content.

The advertisements are meant to provide supplementary monetary support for Lost Trails' endeavors. This decision was not made lightly, but we really do need all the help we can get; the vast majority of our visitors are academics who rarely have the means to offer support, and the projects we present are paid for almost entirely in-house. If we earned enough income from selling CDs we certainly wouldn't prostitute ourselves by selling ad space!

I'll take advantage of this opportunity to beg: Anyone reading this, if you like the projects Lost Trails presents but don't want to see advertisements, please consider purchasing one of our lovely photographs or CDs, or by donating whatever sum you feel is appropriate!
