Greetings,Thank you for message.I Live in Turkey and I travel and read anatolian archeological.I looked this Karene pictures, but this place of Kanai.....
On climbing the hill behind the D?K?L? BADEML? village and Ali Baba Motel and looking from its summit in the direction of the sea one finds oneself facing a very nice penisula extending for some 200-300 m.At the end of the penisula there is amound known as the Kanai(Turkish name Yahudi Kalesi).Nothing remains of the ancient city KANA? save for the pottery fragments mentioned above and a number of veryregulary cut stones. No scientific excavation has as yet been undertaken on the site. And the other ancient city Karene-Karine is mentioned by Heredotus as one of the cities in the ATARNEUS plain through which Xerxes and his armies passed on the greek campaign of the year 480 B C.Karene must obviously have been situated on the on the gentle slopes of a hill afew hundred yards to the south of the modern village D?K?L?,GˆñKˆáEA?IL KˆñYˆú ..Please look this A?OL?S PROF.DR. B?LGE UMAR ?NK?LAB YAYINLARI. Thanks ...See you.
